Heavy rain batters South Korea's capital city borders, Seoul and surrounding metropolitan areas.

Between the evening of 16 to 17 July afternoon, impacting Panmunjom in Paju where it was recour to have rained 358.5 mm, 212.0 mm in Baekhak, Yeoncheon, and 202.0 mm in Changhyeon in Namyangju. In particular, rainfall exceeding 100 mm per hour fell in Uijeongbu and Paju on  the morning of 17 July.

As a result of excessive flooding on roads entering Dangdong, roads from Jayu-ro, Munsan-eup, Paju-si were also closed. The eastern main road in Uijeongbu-si had to be closed. Traffic was restricted due to flooding on roads near Sinsa 1 Bridge in Nam-myeon, Yangju-si, and Deokjeong Intersection in Dongducheon-si. Electric trains stopped running and train service was suspended between Uijeongbu Station and Deokjeong Station on the Gyeongwon Line, and between Mangwolsa and Uijeongbu Station. Cars and motorbikes have been abandoned as the water levels were too high.

Small motored rubber boats have been used in rescue efforts. Nearly 900 residents from eight cities and provinces across the nation have been evacuated. In response, the government has given displaced residents temporary housing facilities.

The massive downpour also activated landslide warnings for several parts of Seoul, including Jongno, where heavy rain brought down an embankment in a residential area. Torrential rain of up to 70 mm or more per hour is expected to continue in the urban areas including northern Chungcheongbuk-do until. Further disruption and flood damage is expected to increase further.
